Schengen Visa Information

What is a Schengen Visa?

A Schengen Visa is a tourist visa that is required for some nationalities to obtain if they wish to visit Europe. We always recommend applying for a Schengen in your home country if you require it, but it is possible to obtain while you are staying in the UK.

If you hold any of the nationalities below, then you do NOT require a Schengen Visa and entitled to travel in the Schengen Area for up to 90 days on arrival. Please ensure that if you require to return to the UK after your time in Europe that you hold the necessary UK Visa (i.e. Multiple entry, within expiry, visa Waiver).

Can I get a Schengen Visa while I'm in the UK?

If you require a Schengen Visa and are currently in the UK, then you must check if you're still eligible to apply for one.

There are some basic rules:

  • You must either be a student attending a college or in full time employment (working visa)
  • You cannot travel in the Schengen Area during the last 3 months of your UK Visa. You will need to reserve 2-4 weeks for the processing of your visa and then the time spent traveling in the Schengen Area. You must return to the UK before the last 3 months of your UK Visa.
  • If you have a 6 month/180 days 'C' type UK Visa or Electron Visa Waiver (EVW) - then you can only apply with the Dutch Embassy and Holland must be your main country of visit.

If you are not sure of the above, we recommend using our free online checking service below
